A sergeant of the Buenos Aires Police was arrested on Saturday for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Pereyra Iraola Park last week. The arrest was carried out by officers from the DDI in Florencio Varela. The incident occurred last Thursday in City Bell. The victim was approached by the assailant, who was armed with a firearm, forced into a vehicle, and taken to the park where she was held for approximately three hours and assaulted. After the attack, the victim was released, but her vehicle was stolen. An investigation based on security camera footage and tracking the stolen vehicle led to the identification of the suspect as police sergeant Jonathan Andrés Peralta (32). His vehicle was subsequently searched, and a 9mm Bersa pistol, ammunition, a fake license plate, and other evidence related to the crime were seized. The officer has been charged with qualified car theft, sexual assault, and illegal deprivation of liberty.
